Reflections on the Oneness

To experience the oneness
One must relinquish the mind
In order to relinquish the mind
One must experience the oneness
It is without the mind
That one experiences that vast connection
Of life, movement, rhythm on earth
Existing mellifluously with one another
And inanimate objects
It is this perception of spiritual and physical interrelatedness
That occurs when the mind is switched off
It is beyond the mind's comprehension
Yet when experienced
It is the mind's desires to recognize,
Give it a name, give it a form, in words.
When experiencing the oneness
The mind feels light
Yet has difficulty cognizing
The experiential realm of consciousness
Without this realm thought has no form,
Thought becomes a superfluous human function.
Although most of our human lives
Are consumed by thinking.
If life can exist without thought,
Then life itself is all, but thought.
Thought is merely a desire to understand
This miraculous phenomenon called life
All life is one,
Whether we understand it or not.
